Traveling & Things Learned

When making the 12 hour trip from SE Idaho to Albany you have a lot of time to think. While driving that is. Especially when you do most of it and your wife sleeps most of the time occasionally waking up to tell you to slow down, that she needs some Pringles from the gas station or to talk on the phone.

This time I finally won and we were able to stop at a lot of the "View Points" on the way. I have attached a few of those pictures. But the real reason for this BLOG was create "TOP 10 THINGS LEARNED THIS SEMESTER." So without further or do....

10. Once you are a senior your GPA cannot move too much regardless of what grades you receive.
9. Never give your advice/run downs on each NCAA team because then she will beat you at your own game (bracketology)
8. Snowmobiles are reason enough to live in a cold, snowy climate
7. When you turn 24 you are officially OLD.
6. When you get media tickets to Conference, go to every session, no questions asked.
5. When your wife has never missed one of your intramural games ever, you know you not only married up but chose very well.
4. The scooter will get family/friends to come visit you above all else.
3. Remove the battery from your scooter during the winter or it will die.
2. A broken nose does not constitute a foul in some officials eyes.
1. Never be married to someone who takes 21 credits in one semester.
0. Even when it feels like no one wants you for a job or internship, just go the Pest Control route and it will make you feel like everyone wants you!

Come visit us in Portland this summer, and we are still looking for a good summer get away if anyone has any great 3-3 tourney's/vacation destinations in mind.

Life married to Mrs. Famous

As I have been pondering what to do for this post, my thoughts keep going to how this situation has effected me. Before I get into that, a little background for those unaware.

Last weekend we headed to Salt Lake for General Conference. Friday night we hit up the famous CTEM reunion and had a great time. Ma, Pa, and Whit all accompanied me to that terrific President Taylor led event.

Saturday morning we woke up early ate at some "small town" feel breakfast joint and headed to temple square. Whit scored "Media Tickets" since she went reporting for BYUI. Did I mention the these tickets give you all kinds of power: all you can eat snacks and drinks, no waiting in any lines, great seats, you can talk where you sit - due to the sound proof room, and you sit right next to national TV anchors. Whit and I attended both sessions saturday, myself and the boys attending Priesthood session for Pres. Monson's famous ear wiggle, and then Whit also attended Sunday morning.

Where Whit became famous was in between the sessions at the press conferences. Saturday was with the newly called Elder Christopherson and Sunday with the newly called young womens presidency. All of which she met in person, talked to and got pictures with.

If you click here you will be taken to the press releases and see whit.

As soon as Whit was on TV both of our phones lit up with calls and texts (it reflects in our phone bill this month!). Just like that, instantly she became famous. For this last week at school I have had people that I don't even know tell me about how cool it was they saw my wife on TV. Only two seemed to remember the back of my head which was also on there. People I don't even know, texts from old mission companions, and even a call from the famous southern Cali Moorhead's.

Whit really is an all star, one of the best in her field. Stay tuned to your TV, you never know when you might see her next.

The Madness is over

Unfortunately Monday brought the end of another great year of march madness. Capped off by a great game between Memphis and Kansas. And as you know Kansas (my Jayhawks) came through and won. After being down 9 points with 2:31 to go they tied it up with a 3 pointer with only 2 seconds left. Thanks to heart, clutch play, and Memphis not making free throws we pulled out the win. I just wanted to recognize those champs from the pool, and noticed how it really was a CARLILE year. It was a great feeling to pick the winner again, it had been since 2003, Carmelo's Orangemen.

1. Mere
2. Dad
3. Ev
4. Whit

Though Whit picked Memphis she was still able to finish fourth.
